MG cars had their roots in a 1920s sales promotion sideline of Morris Garages, an Oxford retail sales and service center owned by William Morris. Originally modifying Morris Oxfords and adding an MG plaque to the nose, the company began manufacturing its’ own cars shortly thereafter. Prior to World War Two, MG produced a line of cars known as the T-Series Midgets, with production resuming after the war. MG TC exports to the US proved highly lucrative from 1948. Successive upgrades were added in subsequent years to cater to American buyer demands - these became the TD and TF models. The midgets were replaced by the MGA of 1955, itself followed by MG’s biggest selling and more iconic model – the MGB of 1962. Later released as a hardtop and with a V8 option, the MGB was manfuactured until 1980.
