We’ve cast our net wide, but make no apologies for focusing on the classic cars of Detroit from the era when it was the style king.
With every form of human endeavor there’s a high water mark, with cars it was this mid-to-late 20th century period. Muscle cars, drag cars, TV shows and cartoons with cars, road movies and pop music with lyrics of auto love, magazines and popular culture in general… so much of it revolved around these magnificent and inspirational cars. It was a time when cars represented freedom, when romance ruled over practicality... a time when the journey was the destination. Why Tunnel Ram?
A tunnel ram is a high-rise intake manifold on which carburetors are mounted.
Still confused?
Put simply - it's a piece of equipment to give your V8 a serious horsepower boost at high revs. A favorite with hot rodders, drag racers and custom car freaks of old, from the ‘50s tunnel rams began to appear wherever horsepower had currency. Like figureheads on viking longships, tunnel rams began to rise out of engine bays to warn anyone within eyesight…this machine means business. Tunnel rams are as much about appearance as power; a reminder of a time when cars were at the center of American culture. Check out our image gallery for more examples
