Formed in 1919, by 1926 Morris Motors became Britain’s biggest auto-maker with over 40% of total cars produced. No longer a standalone marque by the early 1950s, like so many British makes the Morris name became one of a stable under BMC and later British Leyland.
Morris Motors produced some of the most beloved British postwar models including the bullet proof Minor in various body styles including two and four door sedans, cabrio, pickup and Traveler wagon. Most famous of all is surely the brilliant Mini designed by the great Alex Issigonis.

Other models include the Isis, Oxford Traveler station wagon and a series of commercial J2 vans, minibuses and pickups that became staples across the UK from the late 1950s and through the ‘60s. The 1950s Oxford sedan continued to be manufactured in India by Hindustan Motors right up until 2014. The Morris name was eventually retired by British Leyland in 1984.
