There’s a classic Mercedes Benz (or two) in every generation going back to the immortal SSK roadster of the late 1920s. With such a long and illustrious history this gallery would go on for ever if we covered all the classic Benzes, so we’ll confine ourselves to the nineteen-fifties through to the ‘eighties. Models include the stunning 1955 Gullwing and 300SL roadster, the SL convertibles including the iconic W113 230 with removable ‘Pagoda’ hardtop, the SLC coupes, various luxury sedans and the ultra-luxury long wheelbase 600 Grosser limousine.

Mercedes famously pioneered safety cells with crumple zones and other life saving features such as abs and airbags. Numerous engineering advances include fuel injection, irs and industry leading improvements in all critical areas of automotive technology.
