Based in Sant’Agata - Lamborghini has been in the business of making among the world’s most coveted, desirable cars for over half a century. Founded in 1963 to build luxury GT cars to compete with Ferrari and Maserati, Lamborghini first produced the beautiful 350GT before knocking the automotive world for six with the release of the rear-engined V12 Muira. Later came the front engined V12 Espada four seater, followed by the supercar to end all supercars - the Countach. Financial troubles have dogged the company since the early 1970s, passing through several owners in the intervening years before VW purchased the company, putting it under the management of Audi.
If Lamborghini had only made two cars - the Miura and Countach - they’d be remembered forever. Ushering in the era of rear-engined supercars, the company changed the automotive landscape forever.
