A look back at the first forty years of the Holden station wagon. Once the first choice for families across Australia, the rugged Holden wagon dominated the family car market locally until the onset of the all conquering SUV in the 21st century. Initially the Holden station wagon was a utilitarian, six cylinder transport option - tough and reliable but offering little in the way of comfort. By the EH model you could get higher levels of luxury with individual front seats in leather and other niceties. By the late ‘60s a wagon buyer could order a V8 with automatic trans, power steering, air con and power windows.
Starting with the FE station sedan of 1956, the wagon became a Holden staple and best seller through the decades with the FC, FB, EK, EH, HD, HR, HK, HT, HG, HQ, HJ, HX, HJ and all the Commodores series: VB, VC, VH, VK, VL, VN, VP, VR etc.
