Mercury Cougar
Introduced in 1967 and built on the Mustang platform, with hidden headlights, electric-razor style grille and matching, chrome ribbed tail lights, the Cougar was priced to sell upmarket. Initially only offered as a hardtop coupe, Mercury later released a convertible - though never offered a Mustang-style fastback. Well equipped, good looking and with enough performance options to satisfy muscle fans - the Cougar was a success from the start. Engines ranged from a 2V 302 right on up to the brutal 428 Cobra-Jet V8 of 1969/70. Models include the GT, GT-E, XR-7 and Eliminator
